Making SE G900 dust free
August 20th, 2008First of all, the fact that i did this without any damage to my G900 does not guarantee that this is the case with you!
Now lets start:
STEP1 Removing stuff
We need to turn off the device, remove the stylus, remove the back slide, remove the battery, remove the sim-card and also remove the M2 memory card if present.
STEP2 Remove the lens cover
It’s quite simple.. As you may notice there is still this ‘piece’ left with the led and lens on it. You need to put your fingernail between the ‘ribbed’ surface where the volume up and down button is located and the black cover-piece.
You will notice that it comes lose after putting your fingernail in this seam.
STEP3 Removing the crews
Now it is time to grab your torx screwdriver kit and use the appropriate size to remove the following screws:
If they are removed we continue with the next step..
STEP4 Remove the front
When you get the hang of it, it’s quite simple (but that is probably the case with almost everything in life). You will notice that the front-cover is coming lose of the ‘ribbed’ surface on the top. It was only attached there with those screws you just removed.
If you put your fingernail between the ‘ribbed’ surface and the top-cover you will see that it is still stuck in the middle. You can push a small screwdriver in the following ‘holes’ to ‘click’ the front-cover lose:
The photo is mirrored so look at the picture carefully. I placed some hints about where the stylus and the sim is located.
If you follow the arrows on the picture you will see little openings on the edges of your G900. If you put a little flat screwdriver into those holes and give it a little power you will see that the front cover will come off. As you see in the picture, there is only one side where all the ‘push points’ are. If you push them all in the cover will come off one side of the G900. You can just open it like a book (but not 180degrees, that will break the little feets on the other side, only something like 45degrees) and the other side will also come lose, and the whole cover will be removed. Do it once, and the second time is a piece of cake.
STEP5 Remove the dust
Now that the parts are lose:
It is time to remove the dust. This is done with some soft cloth (your old tshirt, or just the shirt you’r wearing). Just don’t push on the parts when you are whipping it clean of dust.
When you’re done just do all the things you just read in reverse order and you’re done
Happy undusting.
